Many areas within Tokyo are easily accessible from Shinagawa Station by taking JR train lines or the Toei Asakusa Line. In addition, Haneda Airport and Yokohama areas are also accessible by taking the Keihin Kyuko Line. Since Shinkansen (a bullet train) stops at JR Shinagawa Station, it is very convenient to go to the western part of Japan such as Osaka.
The area towards the ocean from JR Shinagawa Station has been newly developed. Following the developments of ?Shinagawa Grand Commons? and ?Intercity? consisting of a high-rise office tower and condominium apartments, more and more high-rise residential multi-complexes are emerging in the neighboring Tennozu and Konan areas. The open waterfront area surrounded by canals along Tokyo Bay could be a future popular spot in Tokyo.
There is a luxurious residential area called Gotenyama to the south of Shinagawa Station. The Gotenyama Garden consisting of a high-rise apartment, a large Japanese garden, a hotel and an office building is located in the area.
